Fall 2015 - Master Study, Week 6, pt. 2

We spent four weeks working on a master study of our choice. I chose a painting (Study in Black and White) by Burton Silverman: http://www.burtonsilverman.com/paintings/
There were a lot of proportion issues in the first sketch, so I redid half of it, then, while better, there were still a bunch of different proportions issues, so I completely redrew everything during the last week. I did a lot of math and sighting and techniques that I don't normally do in order to try and get this as close as possible. It took so long and yet there are still some off parts. Ah well. I'm happy with it overall because it's still way better than how it was beforehand. It was also fun. :P

Fall 2015 - Charcoal Hands, Week 6, pt. 1

Some more hands, only this time interacting. :D

Fall 2015 - Still Life Painting, Week 6

Starting reflections with copper! That blue-green block on the right is preeeetty off. I fixed up the purple but the blue-green, man, it wanted to stay weird.

Fall 2015 - Still Life Painting, Week 5

Painting glass. Seeing the true values of glass was more difficult than I expected it to be. Sometimes it was actually lighter than I thought, other times it was a lot darker than I thought.

Fall 2015 - Charcoal Hands, Week 5

Mooore hands! But not just hands. Hands holding objects.

Fall 2015 - Charcoal Hands, Week 4

A bunch of haaaaands.

Fall 2015 - Still Life Painting, Week 4, pt. 2

The first 3-week long assignment. There are a few issues, but I'm pretty happy with it. The ladybug pot is my favorite part. :D

Fall 2015 - Still Life Painting, Week 4, pt. 1

Semi limited palette with no black. I think this might be my least favorite painting of the ones I've done so far. It's not awful, but it's not that great either. :P

Daily - October 10-13, 2015

References from Morguefile.
Some birds! Felt like practicing little birds and practicing with ink. I think I went too heavy with the left bird. I like the hummingbird more. (S)he's so cute. :D

Pen and colored pencil.

Daily - October 7, 2015

Some more weird sketches. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ And a gecko. I'm pretty happy with the gecko, especially since I drew it from memory based on my leopard gecko. I think I had only just heard of Inktober on this day. Maybe, maybe not.

Daily - October 2-3, 2015

Some weird sketches, man. The little chubber cat is my favorite.
The bottom right thing is supposed to be a puffer fish. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Daily - October 1, 2015

What a great drawing to start off October, I say as most of October has passed. What a happy, little doll to keep you company.

Pen and colored pencil. :D

Daily - September 30, 2015

Been a while. Drawn a bit and have been doing schoolwork, of course, just haven't been posting it.
Top is a quick eye from memory and bottom is a colored pencil sketch I did of a class acrylic painting demo as I was watching it.

Daily - September 28-29, 2015

Another flower! I love flowers. Done in charcoal, graphite, pen, and colored pencil. Reference from Morguefile.

Fall 2015 - Still Life Painting, Week 3

This didn't quite turn out how I wanted it to and I had a lot of troubles with it, from the object placement to paint consistency to supplies falling over constantly. I don't dislike it, but I'm not as happy with it as I was with my painting from last week.
Limited palette with one added color in acrylics.

Fall 2015 - Charcoal Heads, Week 3

Moooore Portraits. Some 10 minute sketches and a ~3 hour drawing. Slowly but surely.

Fall 2015 - Charcoal Heads, Week 2

Some charcoal portraits, not much else to say, really. I think I did better with the right.

Fall 2015 - Still Life Painting, Week 2

I actually really like the way this turned out. Not perfect, of course, but I'm pretty happy with it. First week of color! Limited palette in acrylics.

Daily - September 25, 2015

Heh, I keep forgetting to sign my drawings before I take pictures of them. Rose based on one of my photos from a few years ago. Done in pen and marker while listening/watching a livestream.
Edit: I just realized I've drawn flowers three days in a row. Haha.

Daily - September 24, 2015

A bit more doodling after learning about henna/mehndi/zendoodling. Primarily henna/mehndi inspired though, particularly by the tutorial I used to learn about some simple designs.

Daily - September 23, 2015

A random flower that came from just starting with a squiggle. Pen and colored pencil. I experimented a bit with blending the colored pencil and I'm pretty happy with it.
I was learning about henna/mehndi and zendoodling a bit and created this with some pens.

Daily - September 19, 2015

Some tiny birds in pen. Based on a butterfly design on the side of a planter.

Daily - September 18, 2015

Haven't posted in a bit, several things to post! I went through several ideas for this (some of which I might try later), but ended with a baby meerkat that wants to be like the bigger meerkats. I intended to fully color it (I experimented a bit with the smaller meerkats), but I haven't yet. Maybe I will, maybe I won't. At the least, I'll probably try to finish the baby meerkat.

Daily - September 14, 2015 pt. 2

Based on a tiny sketch I did of something I wanted to crochet. It kind of makes me think of a few digimon, but it's not really based on anything. I have no idea where the light is coming from. Colored pencil, brush pen, and a little bit of white charcoal.

Daily - September 14, 2015 pt. 1

Sketched a bit at the park. Saw a bunch of squirrels at first, but then none nearby when I was actually drawing...So not great memory drawing.
Then drew some seeds(?) and traced a leaf from the tree I was under.

Daily - September 13, 2015

My scanner is too light and washes everything out a bit. I need to figure out how to fix that.
Missed a few days while working on assignments last week. Sketched some things in graphite, mushroom references from Morguefile.

Fall 2015 - Charcoal Heads, Week 1

Always charcoal. I think I've had at least one charcoal class every semester. This one focuses on heads and hands. I'm cool with that.
Left - 10 minute heads
Right -Several hour heads, I was genuinely surprised with how well the upper drawing turned out. I expected bad. Lower drawing, I had issues with his eyes and shadows and overall face. I like his hair though.
I also had a couple other exercises, but I don't feel the need to post those. Value scales and a small sphere.

Fall 2015 - First Still Life in Acrylics, Week 1

It's quite a bit off from my reference (a bowl and egg), but I had fun painting it. This is the first non-gouache painting I've done since high school. I..did not like painting in high school. It was frustrating. Infuriating, even. I loved this though and I'm excited for the next assignments.

Daily - September 9-10, 2015

Doodles. I don't quite remember what I drew on each day exactly, but I definitely know the bunny face was the last. Everything is graphite, except the cat, which I practiced some pens on. The rooster and chipmunk are based on pictures from a random animal generator on "RandomLists."

Daily - September 8, 2015

A bit late to the posting, but I've got it now. I don't know why, but I was staring at a blank piece of paper and saw a frog face (similar to froakie, the pokemon). Then I drew the rest based on that. I also decided to practice my inking and markers. This is now officially the first ink/marker drawing in over a year and the first animal.

Spring 2015 - Color and Design Final

This was my final painting for my first painting/color class! Done in gouache on cold press illustration board. We created our own mandala design based on anything we wanted and had a fairly large color scheme. Mine is focused on crochet and my primary color is yellow. I'm posting this first because I'm pretty happy with it.
